ULVERLEY RED HOT IN CUP FINAL
The mighty Reds Ulverley turned the heat up on what was a wet and cold cup final. The Hawks were red hot and never looked in any trouble apart from the first 5 minutes in which Boldmere hit the bar and had Kav pulling off a good save then we went up there end and went one better with Drew hitting the bar and the post the game really kicked off at blistering pace with both sides attacking with pace. Unfortunately for Boldmere they lost their centre forward who looked handy to an injury and from then on there was really only one team in it. Drew looked fired up and got on the sc ore sheet after Cam played a cool reverse pass to AJ who sprinted forward down the left and cut the ball back to Drew who slotted home and said thank you very much. Charlie came on and scored with his second touch smashing the ball home with his left peg without even taking a touch classy. Boldmere never gave in and kept battling away to their credit and welcomed the half time whistle.
Half time talk was lets see how they set up at half time before we change anything.
Sure enough Boldmere decided to gamble and went 3 at the back so we decide to go 5 across the middle and it soon paid off with Drew scoring his second. We tried to keep the lads moving by making plenty of changes which to their credit they adjusted too well, it was time for drew to rest so AJ came on and hit a thunderbolt at the Boldmere goal which I’m sure the keeper jumped out of the way 4 nil and we were now cruising AJ had a couple more shots on goal and Ulverley were unlucky not to score a couple more, but the game was already won.
The whole team were on top form today Marshall looked solid, and back to his best and the whole defence did an excellent job keeping a clean sheet plus Kav keeping us in the game in the 1st five minutes and also making a good save from a corner. Scottie stood out in the middle looked big and strong winning lots of headers and spraying the ball all over the park the other midfielders battled hard too. Our wingers AJ and Zak are the best in the league and showed it bombing up and down the wings and delivering some great crosses into the box and up front Drew was terrific nearly scoring with his 1st touch and then going on to score 2 and unfortunate not to get his hat trick. Over all it was a great team performance with everyone putting in a good shift and giving 100%..
It was nice to hear the parents supporting the team as well which sometimes goes missing at silhills we must support the boys in every game not just Cup Finals so its break time now rest amd enjoy some time with your family’s because we will soon be back with tournaments and friendlies we may be looking too sign maybe 1 or 2 players to strengthen our squad but only quality players and not too many, next season can be better than this one and we are definitely looking to improve in our league position but one thing for sure with this bunch of lads it will be very exciting so stay fit boys stay off the play station and get outside it will be kick off before you know it.
Thanks to Nick and all the staff at Sillhill’s
Thanks to Andy Hill for kindly sponsoring the boys.
Thanks to Joolz , our parent rep who is priceless.
Thanks to you all, who support the lads and cheer them on when winning or loosing.
Most of all thanks to the boys themselves who are a bunch of nice lads who are keen to improve and never give us any cheek play the game in the right nature with a smile on their face they are a credit to all their parents CHEERS LADS.
